Cyriel Dessers could be on the move this summer after confirming talks with two of Greece’s top clubs. The Rangers forward said AEK Athens and Olympiakos want to talk, revealing his next destination might be decided soon.
NaijNaira learnt the 30-year-old Super Eagles striker is considering a fresh challenge after a standout season in Scotland. Dessers netted 29 goals and provided 7 assists in 55 matches for Rangers across all competitions.
The Nigerian international has played in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and now Scotland — and Greece may be next.
“AEK Athens and Olympiakos want to talk” – Dessers
Speaking to the Scottish press, Dessers admitted the interest was expected given his numbers.
“With my statistics, it is normal that there is interest,” he told the media.
“I have also heard that AEK Athens and Olympiakos want to talk. But now I want to enjoy my holiday.”
While Dessers is open to discussions, he emphasized that there’s no pressure to leave Ibrox. He still has two years remaining on his current deal with Rangers.
Super Eagles forward stays grounded amid transfer buzz
Dessers was a key part of Nigeria’s Unity Cup campaign earlier this year. He scored against Ghana and assisted against Jamaica, helping the Super Eagles lift their first trophy in over ten years.
Despite his rising stock, he has requested to be left out of Nigeria’s upcoming friendly against Russia, with reports suggesting he’s focusing on personal matters, including an upcoming wedding.
With his future still undecided, the possibility of a Cyriel Dessers transfer to AEK Athens or an Olympiakos move remains firmly in play.
