According to THEWILL, political rivals Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso and Abdulahi Ganduje, former governors of Kano state, will be nominated as representatives for Kano and the North West zone in President Tinubu’s cabinet.

This move is seen as a step towards consolidating the understanding between Tinubu and Kwankwaso, who have agreed to work together ahead of the 2027 polls.

In Cross River, ex-Governor Ben Ayade is facing opposition from his successor, Bassey Otu, who is not keen on nominating Ayade as the state’s representative.

In Rivers State, the situation is complicated due to factionalism within the APC and the support of former Governor Nyesom Wike for Tinubu.

It remains unclear how Tinubu will navigate the interests of these players in these states and the South-South zone.

In Delta State, there is a rivalry between former Deputy President of the Senate Ovie Omo-Agege and former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity Festus Keyamo for the ministerial position.

In Lagos, where Tinubu controls the political structure, the nominee list has undergone three tweaks.

The presence of loyalists from other parties in the cabinet is seen as fulfilling Tinubu’s desire for a government of national unity.

Tinubu has also called on governors to send nominees for appointments into federal parastatals, agencies, and institutions.

A special committee has been constituted to draw up nomination modalities for the recently dissolved boards of government agencies.
