Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to postpone his planned visit to the state due to numerous complaints from residents about the difficulty in obtaining new naira notes.

In a statement released by Governor Ganduje’s media aide, Abba Anwar, it was revealed that lawmakers from the state, political leaders and the business community had all supported the decision to ask for the president’s visit’s postponement, citing security reasons and hardships resulting from switching to new currency notes.

At an interactive session held at the Government House with various representatives on Friday, GovernorGanduje spoke further about how banks are limited in number, mainly existing in rural communities where citizens lack access.

He added how even merchants have been facing issues with transactions while running their point-of-sale systems due to uncertainty.

Not just in Kano State but other states have delegates sent over to speak with President Buhari regardingthe matter – unfortunately so far nothing has been done as regards extending the deadline for exchanging old naira notes.

After speaking with President Buhari, Governor Ganduje is hopeful that he will look statisfactorily into their concern and adjust his schedule accordingly.
