Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned from his position.

According to credible sources, Adamu sent his resignation letter to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The letter was addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but since the president was away at the African Union meeting in Kenya, it was sent to his Chief of Staff.

The resignation comes amidst reports of a gang-up against Adamu by individuals close to the president, who planned to embarrass him during the party’s upcoming meetings.

However, it is denied that President Tinubu asked Adamu to resign.

The party had scheduled National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings to address critical issues and the crisis within the National Working Committee, but these meetings were later postponed and rescheduled.

Adamu’s resignation is seen as a move to save himself from potential humiliation during these meetings. Adamu declined to comment on the matter until President Tinubu returns.

It is worth noting that Adamu had previously declared former Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the consensus candidate of the party, which caused uproar among party governors from the North.

This led to the party opening the race for its presidential ticket, which Tinubu ultimately won.

Recently, Adamu also expressed dissatisfaction with the list of principal officers announced by the Senate President and Speaker.

He was summoned to a meeting with President Tinubu and the National Secretary of the party, where the issue was resolved.
