Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro, has made the decision to step down from his position as Head Coach of the Super Eagles. It is expected that he will officially leave tomorrow.
Peseiro recently led Nigeria to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to the host nation, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
The 63-year-old Portuguese tactician is currently a free agent, as his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expired.
Peseiro is now weighing his options for his next coaching job, with reports linking him to the vacant Algeria job. He has stated that he has received up to seven offers from national teams and clubs.
“I told everyone to come back at the end of the month. What is certain is that I want to continue coaching and I need to choose wisely,” Peseiro said in an interview with Goal.
“At this moment, I repeat, all options remain possible. I received a lot of options and a lot of contacts from national teams or clubs. I would say five, six or seven offers. I let them all know that I need to rest and that when my contract expires, I will talk about it and start thinking about other projects. And decide my future. For now, I need to take a break and be calm.”
As Peseiro takes some time to reflect and consider his options, the Super Eagles will be on the lookout for a new coach to guide them in their future endeavors.
