Toyin Badmus, the President of the Asiwaju Women Cooperative Society (AWCS) and a prominent supporter of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, passed away on Sunday morning in an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.
The 62-year-old was coronated as the Iyaloja and Iyalode of Abuja in 2020.
According to a close aide of the businesswoman and a politician, Badmus suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital, where she later passed away.
Her death has come as a shock to her colleagues and supporters in the All Progressives Congress National Women Lobby Group.
Badmus was a fierce advocate for women’s rights and a staunch supporter of Tinubu’s candidacy in the February 25 presidential election.
She played a pivotal role in mobilizing women across the country to vote for the President-elect.
