Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has emerged as interim Chairman of the The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) forum.

The NGF Chairman and Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, mandated Tambuwal who is vice chairman of the forum to take over its affairs.

Fayemi was recently chosen to lead the Forum of Regional and State Governments in Saidia, Morocco’s state of Casablanca.

According to a statement by Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, Director of Media and Public Affairs for the NGF Secretariat, Fayemi virtually attended the NEC from New York City, where he is now attending the United Nations General Assembly meeting.

“With effect from mid-October 2022, when the current Chairman’s term as Governor of Ekiti State expires, Governor Tambuwal, who is presently the Vice Chairman of the Forum, would assume responsibility for managing the organization.

According to the statement, “The Sokoto State governor will hold fort until May of next year when a proper election is conducted among the governors.”
