Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska on August 15 for direct talks over the war in Ukraine — www.naijnaira.com reports. The planned meeting follows Trump’s remarks suggesting that disputed territories could be exchanged as part of a peace plan.
According to the BBC, Kremlin officials confirmed the venue, calling it a logical choice due to Alaska’s closeness to Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded firmly, stressing that “any solutions without Ukraine are solutions against peace,” and reiterated that no land would be surrendered to Moscow.
Sources told CBS News the proposal under discussion could see Russia keep Crimea and the Donbas region while giving up control of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. It is unclear whether Kyiv or European leaders will accept the plan.
Trump believes a trilateral deal is possible, but past attempts at direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia have ended without progress.
