According to reports in Spain, Zinedine Zidane is on the verge of returning to management with Bayern Munich. The former Real Madrid manager has been out of work since May 2021 but has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
Bayern Munich is currently in search of a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who will be leaving at the end of the season. However, their top candidate, Julian Nagelsmann, recently signed a contract extension with the German national team, leaving Bayern in need of an alternative.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Zidane has emerged as the frontrunner for the Bayern job. While an agreement has not been signed yet, it is said to be “practically done.” Zidane has reportedly already requested improvements to the team’s defense during the upcoming summer transfer window.
During his tenure as Real Madrid head coach, Zidane achieved great success, winning two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies. His track record and experience make him an attractive prospect for Bayern Munich.
Other candidates that Bayern has considered include Xabi Alonso, who will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen for another season, Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton, and Jose Mourinho, who was recently sacked by Roma.
