Atletico Madrid have opened talks to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
The Spanish side have made their first approach for the Super Eagles star, according to Corriere dello Sport via Europa Calcio.
Lookman, 27, had an impressive season with Atalanta, scoring 20 goals and providing six assists in all competitions.
He grabbed global attention after scoring a stunning hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin.
Atletico Madrid are now negotiating with Lookman’s representatives, but Atalanta are standing firm on their €60 million valuation.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte is eager to bring the Nigerian forward to his title-winning team.
Conte, working with Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna, sees Lookman as a valuable addition to strengthen their attack.
Liverpool, Manchester United, and Barcelona are also following the situation closely as the competition for Lookman’s signature grows.
Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman has been a standout performer.
He has recorded 52 goals and 25 assists in 108 appearances for the Italian side.
Across his career in England, Germany, and Italy, Lookman has tallied 87 goals and 43 assists in 318 matches.
He became a fan favourite in Bergamo after playing a key role in Atalanta’s first-ever European trophy success.
“Lookman was decisive, and his impact was incredible in the Europa League final,” a source said.
