Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lent his support to Ikechi Emenike’s claim of the Abia State governorship ticket for the 2023 election.
This was made known on Tuesday during an APC presidential rally in Umuahia, where he stated that “Ikechi Emenike has gotten the flag for our party.”
The party had been internally split due to tussles over leadership, leading to two parallel primaries held on 26 May with Uche Ogar and Emenike emerging as different candidates.
Though a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled in favor of Ogar in November, this decision was overturned by the Court of Appeal in Abuja exactly two months later.
With Ogar still contemplating another lawsuit against this ruling, Tinubu pointedly reached out to him and appealed for withdrawal as well as a return to dialogue: “Come home, let us resolve our matter in our living room.”
He went further to ensure that Ikechi was presented with the official APC flag by National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu and Deputy National Chairman, South Emma Eneukwu.
