Charles Oputa, a renowned Nigerian singer popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Fada, recently voiced his unhappiness with Wole Soyinka.
On his Instagram page, Charly Boy slammed him for lowering himself to serve dishonest politicians.
He compared him to the late Chinua Achebe and said it was a fucking disgrace, adding that he had always had a lot of regard for him but it now appears to him that Soyinka can’t attain Chinua Achebe height.
He wrote:
“The kin respect I had for this man was almost the kind of respect I had for the late Justice C.A. Oputa, The Socrates of the Supreme Court. It has finally dawned on me that Soyinka can never be the man Chinua Achebe was.
Look at a man many Nigerians put on such a high pedestal reducing himself to a boyiboyi for criminal politicians.”
