On March 8, 2023, privacy-focused search engine and browser developer DuckDuckGo announced the launch of their new AI feature, DuckAssist.
This feature is based on generative AI technology, which offers an alternative approach to those utilized by DuckDuckGo’s competitors Google and Microsoft in their respective products such as Google Bard and Bing search.
Rather than trying to produce a response to a question like other resources on the market do, DuckAssist will summarize information with its source material primarily coming from Wikipedia and Encyclopedia Brittanica.
Users can also expect accuracy when using DuckAssist due to an anonymous feedback feature which will help improve the results given by the tool.
Furthermore, personal data won’t be shared with third-party sources so user anonymity remains intact.
Despite these features, this AI resource isn’t suitable for questions with subjective language and won’t return a response for all queries made.
