The case filed by Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), against the Department of State Services (DSS) has caused anxiety as the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja prepares to rule on the matter.
Emefiele, who was arrested and detained by the DSS following his suspension by President Bola Tinubu, filed a fundamental human rights suit alleging a violation of his rights.
The suit names the Attorney General of the Federation, the Director General of the DSS, and the DSS as respondents.
The DSS and the AGF have filed preliminary objections challenging the court’s jurisdiction and seeking the dismissal of the suit.
Emefiele’s lawyer argues that the case has merit, and the court is set to rule on the jurisdiction and consider Emefiele’s prayers.
