Erling Haaland, the 22-year-old striker for Manchester City, has been named the Premier League player of the season, beating out tough competition from Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka.
Haaland’s debut campaign at the Premier League champions has been outstanding, with 36 goals in 35 league games and eight top-flight assists.
He was also named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year earlier this week and now holds the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season.
Haaland and his team will end the league campaign at Brentford on Sunday and then focus on trying to win a historic treble with upcoming FA Cup and Champions League finals against Manchester United and Inter Milan, respectively.
City lifted the Premier League title last weekend after defeating Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium and currently hold an eight-point lead over Arsenal, who had led the Premier League table for much of the season.
