Discussions between Chelsea and Lyon regarding the potential transfer of Malo Gusto have come to end.

Chelsea had identified German centre-back Gusto as their preferred target to provide competition for Reece James, who is currently recovering from a knee injury.

After making an opening bid of £25 million for Gusto last week, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas released a statement announcing that Gusto would remain at Lyon until June 30th, 2023 at the earliest.

Chelsea have since moved on to alternative targets and Tottenham are currently engaged in advanced talks with Pedro Porro, the right-back from Sporting CP; however, they are yet to meet his €45m release clause.

Moreover, Everton midfielder Amadou Onana recently rejected a move to Stamford Bridge as he is reportedly valued at £50m by Everton.
