Marcus Rashford has officially signed for Barcelona on a loan deal and confirmed his departure from Manchester United, calling the move a new beginning, www.naijnaira.com reports.
Speaking during his Barcelona presentation, Rashford admitted United is undergoing major transitions. According to Daily Mail, the English forward was one of five players removed from new manager Ruben Amorim’s plans this summer.
“I’ve got no bad words for United. It’s a big part of who I am,” Rashford said, reflecting on his time at Old Trafford. “But like life, football isn’t always straightforward.”
Barcelona hold the option to make the deal permanent for £30 million next summer, as Rashford becomes the first of the ‘bomb squad’ to exit.
The 26-year-old made 426 appearances and scored 138 goals for United, ranking 13th in the club’s scoring history and 20th in appearances.
He won five trophies including two FA Cups, two League Cups, and the 2017 Europa League title.
“Being here, it’s everything I wished for,” Rashford said, donning his new No. 14 shirt. “This club feels like home.”
He described the move as a dream come true, adding, “I’m hungry to grow and help this team compete and win more than they did last season.”
