Threads, Twitter's New Competitor, Loses Over Half of Users Shortly After Launch

Threads, the new rival to Twitter, experienced a significant drop in users shortly after its launch, according to a letter from Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

More than half of Threads’ users stopped using the app within weeks of its release.

While Zuckerberg acknowledged that the retention rate was better than expected, he considered the drop-off to be normal and anticipated improvement as more features were added.

Meta executives are now focused on increasing user retention by implementing strategies such as displaying important Threads on Instagram.

Despite the challenges, Zuckerberg remains confident in Meta’s long-term bets, including the metaverse.

However, the decline in Threads’ user base highlights the challenges Meta faces in attracting users beyond its core apps.
