The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is currently working to secure the release of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife from a UK prison.

As a result, Senator Ekweremadu was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in jail, while his wife Beatrice received a sentence of six years.
In an effort to seek leniency, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo met with the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Richard Montgomery, to discuss the case.
