Wike begs 10th assembly on behalf of President-elect Tinubu

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has advised those vying for leadership positions in the 10th assembly to respect the zoning formulas of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He urged them to prioritize national interest over their personal ambitions and submit to the leadership of the party.

The APC had nominated Tajudeen Abbas and Godswill Akpabio as candidates for the speaker and president of the senate, respectively.

Barau Jibrin and Benjamin Kalu were also picked as deputy senate president and deputy speaker, respectively.

However, some party stakeholders and aspirants have protested against the selection of the four candidates.

Wike urged them to accept the party’s zoning decision and withdraw from the race.

He also emphasized the importance of a cooperative leadership to the success of the president, citing the negative impact of the tussle between the leadership of the national assembly and the administration during President Buhari’s first term.

Wike expressed his belief that President-elect Bola Tinubu will assemble the best team to move the country forward after taking office on May 29.
