D’Banj has reminisced on how he got American rap star and business mogul Kanye West on the remix of one of his hit songs, Oliver Twist.
On the eighth episode of Showmax’s Journey of the Beats, Dapo Oyebanjo narrated the story of how a mistaken identity at Dubai airport provided an opportunity to meet with Kanye West.

According to the showman, an air hostess had mistaken him for Kanye West on a private flight from Dubai to the U.S.
Upon hearing the Grammy award-winning artist was going to be at the airport in a few minutes, the Nigerian popstar seized the opportunity, pulled up to Kanye, and played him the Oliver Twist record.
The Tongolo singer further said while West appeared impressed with his style and persistence, hearing the infamous line, “I like Beyonce,” got him hooked and an opportunity for a lifetime relationship began.
Kanye West’s feature in Fall in Love was not the start of collaborations between Nigerian artists and international acts, but, it gave Afrobeats a push to further get a global presence.
