Senator Dino Melaye has expressed his hopes that former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo will still be alive in 2023 to attend Council of State meetings with Atiku Abubakar when the latter assumes office as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
This after Obasanjo publicly endorsed Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.
Mr. Obasanjo made this clear in his New Year Day message titled “My Appeal To All Nigerians Particularly Young Nigerians”.
In 2019, Mr. Obasanjo endorsed PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar against incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
Representing the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Management Committee, Melaye prayerfully expressed optimism that God would keep Obasanjo alive so he can witness firsthand Atiku’s ascension to power.
Melaye also promised that Obasanjo’s honorarium would be paid, ensuring no financial worries for the elder statesman.
